Lokotrack with long breath

Recycling company focuses on long-run solutions for processing

For the recycling company Hagedorn, situated in Gütersloh, with the focus on demolition, removal and reconstruction is the processing of bulks of debris daily routine. Hagedorn owns besides a mobile impact crusher FINTEC 1440 for a remarkable long time a mobile Lokotrack LT 1213 from Metso. This Machine has already about 16,000 working hours.
“We reckon with long operating times for Metso machines, but if the machines still have such great endurance after 8-9 years we are again and again surprised anew” says Rolf Lieben, managing director of APEX-LIEBEN, independent dealer of crushing and screening units from Geilenkirchen.

Managing director Thomas Hagedorn and his proxy Alfred Winkelmann trace this record-breaking magnitude back amongst others to the good maintenance process of this unit, but they also refer to a statement of an expert for recycling units. This expert has checked up the LT1213 and couldn’t find any drafts in the frame of the unit in spite of the great age of the unit.

The RAL-certified company from Gütersloh took the unusual run-time of the Lokotrack to subject this unit to a general overhaul. Currently the crusher is in the in-house garage where the wear plates of the frame are going to be changed and the rotor is going to be reclaimed. The engine itself doesn’t need to be changed or overhauled. “The unit is economical amortised but we want to use this unit furthermore to reduce fractional shares in the processing. This unit doesn’t belong on the scrap heap”, says Thomas Hagedorn.

In the meantime APEX-LIEBEN provided Hagedorn with a new Lokotrack LT1213 to bridge the down time. The new model has a higher-value configuration than the parent: an integrated pre-screen with vibrating feeder facilitates the classification of fine material; a vibrating conveyor under the impact crusher enables constant flow of material from the crusher to the conveyor. Additionally this new unit has the fully automatic process control IC500 which gives information to the user about breakdown or errors.

The experience with the new LT 1213 is consistently positive. “We are surprised, that this unit has such high output. The peak capacity of the day is at the moment 3,475 t of debris. Our screening unit barely can keep up with such magnitudes. The unit doesn’t show any symptoms of fatigue – nor over several days”, assesses Thomas Hagedorn appreciatory.

He sees great potential for growth in numerous business areas like deconstruction, reconstruction of burden of the past and the track ballast business. Impact crushers with 40 t weight like the Lokotrack from Metso are the ideal equipment for him because the compliance of the legal transport terms is important for him.
